Rachel Beanland
Reading Between the Wines 2026 Guest Author
​
Rachel Beanland is an acclaimed author of historical fiction and National Jewish Book Award Winner. Her novel Florence Adler Swims Forever is about a shocking tragedy that results in three generations of the Adler family grappling with heartbreak, romance, and the weight of family secrets over the course of one summer.
Her most recent book, The House Is on Fire, is a work of historical fiction that follows an incendiary tragedy in 1811 Richmond, VA, that shocked a young nation and tore apart a community in a single night.
Coming in July 2026, The Half Life, is set on a remote Italian island, about a navy wife’s reckoning with power, love, and the price of staying silent in the Atomic Age.
Beanland is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and earned her MFA in creative writing from Virginia Commonwealth University. She lives with her husband and three children in Richmond, Virginia.
